Book Review - The Hunting Party
“Love. That’s all it is.” (P365)
I had seen The Hunting Party, by Lucy Foley, across a few Book platforms and knew it had to be one to add to my TBR list. The cover itself is so eye-catching that the few times I’d seen it in stores I knew I would be coming back for it at some point. I’m very happy to say it lived up to all expectations.

The story itself is a well-written retelling of the classic Who Dunnit? Murder mystery, with a character group that is not only relatable to a teenage and young adult audience but also those who have left education completely and settled into the big bad world of work. The writing is engaging and allows for a deep insight into the character’s motives, emotions and relationships, that overall provide appropriate red-herrings and subtle clues to help you solve the murder. I liked the idea that we don’t immediately know who out of the group has died as well. It provides a secondary element of mystery that also acts as a distraction, allowing the author (the talented Lucy Foley) to literally get away with murder.
I will say however the structure of the narrative, which is split into first-person episodes from various characters, is a little disorientating to read at first and takes time to get used to. But once you understand the progression and relationship between the characters is a gripping read that I personally couldn’t put down.
As someone who isn’t a big fan of the crime and murder mystery literary genre, it was a refreshing read overall and is deserving of its praise across platforms.
A good⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from...
